Ricotta & Spinach Cannelloni
April 28th—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.
Our buyers travel the world in search of the best foods and beverages at the very best values we can find. Sometimes we find dishes with an international flair right in our backyard. Sometimes we discover foods that sound homespun, yet come from far away. And sometimes we find great tasting foods exactly where you’d expect we’d find them. That's the case with Trader Joe's Ricotta & Spinach Cannelloni, which comes from a supplier in Italy, home of cannelloni.
Unfamiliar with cannelloni? Pull up a chair. Cannelloni, which translates to "large reeds", are large (about 3.5 inches long), hollow "tubes" (or reeds) of pasta. They can be filled with any number of things - ours have ricotta cheese and spinach - and are usually topped with a sauce and baked - ours have both béchamel and tomato sauces, plus grated Rebekäse cheese atop the sauce. Ours is an authentic Italian preparation made by an authentic Italian pasta maker. It's savory, just a bit sweet, and supremely satisfying. You can heat it in the microwave in just a few minutes, or bake it in the oven (takes about 30 minutes) for a more traditional presentation. Each 10 ounce package is enough to serve one Cannelloni craver.
We're selling Ricotta & Spinach Cannelloni for $2.49. You'll find it in our freezers.
