February 3rd—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.
In the craft beer world, richer brews with higher alcohol levels are prized for their complexity and depth, as well as their ability to improve with age. They also generally come with hefty price tags. At Trader Joe's, we've worked with one of our most trusted brewery partners - the brewmasters behind our Mission St. beers - to create Mission St. Anniversary Ale, a high gravity craft brew that holds its own with the best in class, for a fraction of the price.
The 2014 Mission St. Anniversary Ale is an Imperial Brown Ale crafted with 10 types of malts and four varieties of hops. It's a blend of 40% stainless steel fermented English style bitter/amber ale, 20% Russian style imperial stout, and 40% reserve porter. Dark brown with medium hop aroma and loads of complex malt flavor, it showcases flavors of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. It's an excellent beer to serve with strong cheeses (did someone say Bacon Cheddar?) and hearty meat dishes like our Braised Beef Roast). Stored upright in a dark, cool place, its flavors will continue to develop and improve for as long as three years.
Mission St. Anniversary Ale is available at Trader Joe's in a 22 ounce bottle for $2.99* plus deposit where applicable - that's about a third of the cost of similar beers in this category. It's an excellent value you’ll find only at your neighborhood Trader Joe's.
*Mission St. Anniversary Ale is currently available in Trader Joe's stores where beer is sold. It is $3.49 (plus tax & deposit value) unless otherwise noted here: OR, WA, CA, AZ: $2.99; KY: $3.69. Alcohol availability & price may vary due to state laws, taxes, shipment fees & other such stuff. (If we could, we would.)
