February 3rd—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.
Our Reserve wines are special. We reserve this label for wines that serve as excellent representatives of both their varietal and appellation, and wines that represent a truly remarkable value. Trader Joe's Reserve Pinot Noir Arroyo Grande Valley Lot #83 is just that kind of wine.
This is a luxurious Pinot Noir that comes to us from a much-admired winemaker in the Arroyo Grande Valley, about halfway between LA and San Francisco. The Arroyo Grande Valley is part of the larger San Luis Obispo appellation, and this particular wine comes from a winemaker that specializes in Pinot Noir grapes. In fact, they cultivate 10 distinct Pinot clones on their property - our Reserve Pinot Noir is a 100% Pinot Noir blend of all of these varieties. The wine bursts with ripe plum, raspberry, and blackberry notes, delivers hints of spice, and finishes long and luscious with smooth tannins. The "Lot #83" indicates that this is our 83rd Reserve wine - each has sold out in our stores.
You could expect to pay $20 or more for Pinot Noir of this quality, from this winemaker, in another label. At Trader Joe's, we're selling it for a mere $9.99* for each 750ml bottle. Our quantities are limited, though, so if Pinot Noir is your thing, don't delay.
*TJ's Reserve Pinot Noir Arroyo Grande Valley is currently available in Trader Joe's stores where wine is sold. It is $9.99 (plus tax) unless otherwise noted here: KY, NH, GA, FL: $10.99. Alcohol availability & price may vary due to state laws, taxes, shipment fees & other such stuff. (If we could, we would.)
