April 28th—Fearlessly Archived—Still a fun read; price & availability may have changed.
We try not to take ourselves too seriously. But when it comes to really good wine, we get serious. Our "Tader Joe’s Reserve" wines are us getting serious - about seriously well-made, seriously good-tasting, and seriously value-oriented wines. We sell rivers of wine here at Trader Joe's, but not many earn their way into our Reserve program. Trader Joe's Reserve Pinot Noir Russian River 2012 Lot #85 lives up to these lofty expectations. (The Lot #85 in the name means this is the 85th wine to make its way into our Reserve line over the years.)
The Russian River Valley is famous for its fog - this climate quirk keeps the temperatures down, and in the lower elevations, provides excellent growing conditions for Pinot Noir. In this 100% Pinot Noir, the fruit expresses itself with red cherry, pomegranate, and licorice notes, hints of mocha and oak, silky tannins and a long, smooth finish. Aged for five months in French oak barrels, the wine is fruit forward yet decidedly dry, an excellent example of Russian River Pinot.
Wine of this quality and pedigree tends to sell for $20 or more. Trader Joe's Reserve Pinot Noir Russian River Lot #85 is $9.99* for a 750ml bottle, an amazing everyday value. Like all our Reserve offerings, though, our quantities are limited, and when it's gone, it's really gone.
*TJ's Reserve Pinot Noir Lot #85 is currently available in Trader Joe's stores where wine is sold. It is $9.99 (plus tax). Alcohol availability & price may vary due to state laws, taxes, shipment fees & other such stuff. (If we could, we would.)
