Incorporating grapes from vineyards in Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Contra Costa, and Lake Counties, Sterling Vineyards North Coast Red Wine is a blend of "juice" from a variety of grapes, each chosen for its contribution to the flavor and structure of the finished wine. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the core components, with luxurious blackberry, plum, and chocolate notes. Zinfandel lends a bit of pepper, Syrah brings deep red fruit and a suggestion of spice. Charbono adds inky color, Carignane hints at strawberry essence, Malbec delivers raspberry, Sangiovese is responsible for the vibrant wild cherry notes, and Petit Verdot completes the picture with a touch of violet. Malolactic fermentation and a year of barrel aging results in a dark, complex wine with layers of dark fruit and licorice, with medium tannins.
You could call this a "kitchen sink" blend… from a very nice kitchen. It's terrific with steaks and chops, baked pasta dishes, and rich cheeses. We have Sterling North Coast Red Wine in limited quantities, at the extraordinary price of $7.99* for a 750ml bottle, while it lasts.
* Sterling North Coast Red is currently available in Trader Joe's stores where wine is sold. It is $7.99 plus tax. Alcohol availability & price may vary due to state laws, taxes, shipment fees & other such stuff. (If we could, we would.)
